UltraDefrag – Free, Speedy Defrag Utility
I am sure it comes as no surprise when I tell you that to maintain optimal performance and reliability you will have to perform certain maintenance tasks from time to time. You will for example have to defragment your hard disk. Why would you want to do that? Why to ensure files are kept in a contiguous manner.
In this endeavor you could take one of two roads. You could use the default defragmenting program that comes bundled with your Windows operating system – which isn’t exactly the best defragmenting tool you could find. Or you could use a 3rd party-developed application – like UltraDefrag.
There are several things you are going to like about the UltraDefrag application:
Functionality – this application can defragment any system files including registry hives and paging files. UltraDefrag does its job at a speedy pace.
Convenience – UltraDefrag is an open source project. What does this mean for the regular user? It means UltraDefrag can be used by said user free of charge for as long as he wants.
Flexibility – no matter what Windows version you’re currently on, UltraDefrag will work like a charm. This application works with all versions of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system. It works with the old but popular Windows XP, it works with the much avoided Windows Vista, and it works with the latest and greatest, Windows 7.
In this category (the Flexibility) we can also include the fact that there is a portable edition of UltraDefrag that you can put on an USB stick for example and take with you.
If you are looking for a free, powerful defrag utility for your Windows-powered computer, UltraDefrag is well worth a try.
